What do you love about The Episcopal Church?

My first time in an Episcopal Church was five years ago shortly after I moved to Bella Vista. I tend to gravitate towards churches that have contemporary services with a less formal approach to liturgy.  So, it is not the liturgy that kept me coming back week after week.  I love the welcoming embrace that Episcopalians extend to everyone.  No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, there is a place for you at the table.

What do you think All Saints’/Todos los Santos provides our Northwest Arkansas community, and Bentonville in particular?

I think All Saints provides a beacon of light to Bentonville and the surrounding areas.  It is more important to fashion your life in the way of Jesus than to make sure every creed and sacrament is followed perfectly.  In God’s world, there is no “other”, no stranger.  We are all one and all means all.  Religion is not the survival of the fittest like so much of the world’s systems are based.  The message of kindness and compassion is strong at All Saints.

What are you most excited about at All Saints’/Todos los Santos?

The energy and potential of All Saints excites me.  Our biggest “building” project is becoming one in community with all believers.  It takes faith to see the fruition of extending love and knowing that others hold universal truth of the Divine Realty.  I would be amiss if I didn’t mention the excitement I feel with the Education for Ministry (EfM) program.  It is a microcosm of blending the many ways to appreciate and learn from someone else’s journey and experiences.  Together we move closer to knowing God.  That excites me!

What’s something interesting about you that most people wouldn’t know just by seeing you on Sunday morning?

Thirty years ago I fell in love with a Pekingese puppy, and I have had at least one Pekingese sharing my home ever since.  Ellie (see photo) is my current buddy and walking companion.  She starts out with such exuberance, but quickly tires.  Most days, she can be seen riding in her stroller while I do the walking.
